What We Target…a sampling
Change always takes place within a larger context- a set of circumstances or conditions that include outside forces whose impacts seem both relentless and unpredictable. However, experience has shown us that similar patterns in change context exist, making certain forces in fact predictable and, once uncovered, these forces can be used as a powerful means to drive change.
Our change methodology allows our clients to uncover and harness the “right” forces in order to actually create the conditions needed for their change efforts to succeed.
Nothing exists in isolation- everything is part of one or more systems. This is why very simple events can cause very complex reactions while major changes can have little or no effect whatsoever.
The ways in which various systems or parts of a system interact (the “dynamics” of the system) often underlie many barriers to change. Do the barriers you notice seem to stem from inside or outside your domain? From both? From the people involved? From the culture? From structural circumstances? All of the above? A combination? Or something else?
Unless the precise interactions at play are accurately identified and addressed — barriers are likely to persist, resurface, or even be replaced by more difficult ones. Our clients succeed in part because they learn from us to detect which system dynamics to target, and how to alter them to get the desired change outcomes to occur.
Many leaders we work with are trying to bring about change in an organization setting. Whatever their industry, their organizations have an overarching purpose, particular tasks they are trying to accomplish, specific boundaries they must work within, limited resources to pull from, results they need to deliver, and cultural norms they must contend with.
Leveraging our methodology, these leaders are able to engage their entire organization in a dynamic developmental process that actually builds their own capacity to change – achieving greater levels of effectiveness, performance, and commitment to delivering remarkable results over the long term.
Groups are an undeniable part of the complex change work we do, and the ways in which group members interact with each other significantly affect how change work unfolds. We know that with the right composition, the right structure, and the right support – groups serve as a powerful mechanism for bringing about change. But how do numerous, divergent groups combine efforts effectively to achieve a major transformational objective?
Our clients know how daunting this can be – how much more it takes than simply getting everyone to sing off the same song sheet. Our approach has proven vital aligning large numbers of diverse groups to take the deep dive that transformation requires, sustain joint action over a long haul, and get real change outcomes – something many approaches aspire to but rarely achieve.
Deep, lasting change in any human system is only possible when the individuals involved go through a transformation of their own. Merely inviting stakeholders to participate isn’t enough. Those involved need a specific set of real experiences attempting change that allows them to discover for themselves what needs to be done, and how to align their own actions toward the change objective.
Using our approach, we teach individuals involved in a change effort how to actively experiment and what to observe in the here-and-now. Within this method, an individual’s mental frameworks are continuously worked with, awareness is developed, and deep learning and change takes place. This results in highly effective individuals who have developed the capacity to solve any problem on the path to change.
Over the years, as the method was applied by leaders from all walks of life …across diverse settings… something amazing happened…deep, lasting change.
